Hermitude

Props to aztec, who just introduced me to this Australian production crew:

Hermitude are generally into mellow, layered beats....On the nature tip, they mix their smooth beats up in the Blue Mountains. I thought that was some kind of gimmick, but I've read a few interviews, and it seems they really do spend a lot of time away from the city out in the bush mixing up some niceness. They are on the Elefant Traks label, an aussie indy label that supports a lot of good hiphop and instrumental stuff.

I've listened to most of this, and it's highly recommended. It's layered and polished (with a lot of darker jazz influences) in a way I can only really compare to Bonobo, but with a diverse range of instrumentation (check "Nightfall's Messenger" off Tales of the Drift). Links to their first two releases are below; I checked Hermitude's myspace page, and it looks like their third release is on its way.

If anyone has a rip of their 2002 release "Imaginary Friends", please share...as always, support the artist (check the myspace link) if you're feeling it.

Count Bass D - Robbed Without A Pistol

"Feel free to share this instrumental project on your blogs by sharing the link or making your own. It's 320KBPS and it's 30 minutes long. Please let me know if you share this on your blog so I can add you to my Blog Roll Call.

Please mention to everyone that I have a project called L7 (Mid-Life Crisis) that will be released next month on 1320 Records. If you have the ability to support that project, I would certainly appreciate it. I would also appreciate it if you put this project on your blogs instead of that one.

Everyone can not afford to purchase music in these days & times so here is my gift to all those people.

Thank you in advance for any show of support."

Slow is a producer out of Hungary. Unfortunatley, I couldnt find a whole lot of information on him. This drop contains 14 tracks with some really dope beats in my opinion. Note: There are a couple of vocal tracks. Its the first time Ive heard someone rap in Hungarian. It sounds pretty dope :-)

LSD - Watch out for the Third Rail (1991) 2007 Re-issue

A milestone in rap from Germany. LSD (Legally Spread Dope) put out this very sample-heavy piece of work at a time when nobody else in Germany did it that way. (You can tell this album has some years on it just by looking at dudes' hairdos. ;)
I remember listening to this for hours on end. In 1991, the instrus weren't out yet, so this reissue with included instrumentals is my opportunity to listen to the beats without the slightly muffled English raps over them. Not that the raps were bad, considering... but the production by far outshines the rest, so this is really the part you need.
