Diego Bernal "For Corners"

Sup fam, quick little post today... Diego Bernal, another artist from the Exponential Records roster, out of San Antonio, Texas. This is a free download on their site, so I JUST barely checked it out, liked a few beats, and thought I'd toss it up. It is pretty dope throughout, a good mix of flavor's, I recommend checking it out. Let us know what you think. Hopefully another Mega-Drop comin up sometime soon, but in the meantime...

PEACE.

Traditional Chinese instruments meet Hip-Hop & Electronica.
An experiment in cross-cultural soundscapes, The Shanghai Restoration Project draws its creative inspiration from the old 1930s Shanghai jazz bands, an early combination of East and West that's become an international legend. The Project revives this exotic blend by introducing Eastern instruments and rhythms to the Western sounds of hip-hop, jazz, and electronica.

"After several years of working on it, my instrumental masterpiece is finally finished! It is a collection of many different styles of drugged out whiteboy hiphop, including slow beats, fast beats, and some shit that doesn't even barely make sense. This is meant to listen to at full volume in the dark after several major bongloads of the sweet mary jane. Or alone on the bus in the rain. Or on your ipod while you wait to use the public internet at the library. Just don't play it when there are more than one person in the room at the same time, as I can't be responsible for the stochastic activity that your encephalographic alpha wave patterns will undergo because of the mixing of your nervous systems.

From the producer that helped bring you such bullshit as Bad Neighbors, Bad Neighbors Strike Back, the Hate, Points Of View, All In Vain, Tied To Things, BSides, and shit like that comes a new breed of shitty internet music to waste your hard earned dollar bills on. It comes screaming across the interweb to occupy your starving ears for the next 79 minutes and 53 seconds (it's the closest I could get to 80 minutes and still have Roxio burn this shit).

It is a journey through millions of parsecs of neurons specifically arranged to generate feelings akin to "music is my only friend". Please do not attempt to escape the laws concerning gravitation, the speed of light, or any other ungoverned universal constants that you may encounter or discover whilst partaking in the experience that is Thunderthief: THE ALBUM…"

Buff1 - There's Only One (2009)

Buff1 is one of my favourite MCs out there right now. And the fact that his crew, The Athletic Mic League (Ann Arbor, Michigan) is filled to the brim with talented producers (and MCs) probably helps with this release as well. The bulk of the production is handled by 14KT and Vaughan T, both of the AML and also known as members of The Lab Technicians.

Esoteric - Serve or Suffer (2008)

Esoteric of 7L and Esoteric fame brings an all-instrumental album inspired by the comic superheroes of legendary Jack Kirby and the like. We all knew Esoterrible had a way of ripping the mic to shreds, but on here, he shows a different side of himself. Quite a large variety of beats and atmospheres. Not necessarily beats for battle rhymes but of the more experimental and playful kind with a healthy dose of vocal snippets thrown in. Well-rounded, entertaining and great music to surf the net to. ;)

My favourite is probably "1989" which is packed with samples and soundbites of the time.

02. Shay’s Rebellion 3:26
03. Shalla Bal 1:56

What do y'all think of this BANGER!?!?

Some real dope Island shit you'd hear at some Beach Party or somethin. I had to pull it from some movie with an Audio Hijack software, quality is good, but you may want to boost the volume a bit to get the full effect of this HEAT. This shit is dope for sure... I guess it's from a production team "Emotional Productions", I went to their myspace, nothin too special over there. But this track is an exception to what I heard, this track is Fire. Hopefully more comin soon.

PEACE!

6th Sense

Submissions to Strictly Beats

If you have an instrumental project (downtempo/hip-hop) you would like to submit to be posted, here's a list of contributors interested in general submissions:

beat-ape1 -> repeeter-at-hotmail.com
beat-ape4 -> my.beattape-at-gmail.com
dj espionage -> djespionage-at-hotmail.com
espiv -> espiv-at-freestylemadness.com, or via his Myspace
k-murdock -> send to his soundcloud dropbox

Contributors post what they feel, with a general nod to albums over beat/snippet tapes. Since its inception in '06, Strictly Beats has relied on an evolving cast of dedicated contributors (and visitors) to spread the ill instrumentals. It's all done for the love, during free time that comes and goes, so don't take it personal if you don't get a prompt reply; keep doing your thing.

Thanks for sharing -- oh, and you can always drop a link in the c-box for anyone/everyone to grab.
