Finally... THE GOLDEN ERA POST!!!!

Free Image Hosting at allyoucanupload.com

** UPDATE ** - Added a little something special to the Post, all thanks to Chris. Check down below, not gonna say much about it, I heard it was coming out but didn't know when... It's Dope.

WORD. Finally got all this shit handled... This is a Bundle of Crack right here. I remember some Hater a while back was claiming that I thought my posts were "Holy" or some shit like that, well I don't, except this one right here. If some of these fools are considered Gods of Hip Hop, then I consider this a Holy Post... ANYWAY, let's get to it, I sat long & hard and tried to decide which producer was most on their game out of all the tracks in this post. Normally Buckwild will always pull to the top, he's probably my favorite producer, but I think within this post itself, the Don himself takes the Cake. The Godfather Don, What the Fuck is up with this guy?? EASILY the most slept on producer from that Era, but yet dropped shit that was in some ways better than anything else out at the time, in my opinion. Every beat from the Don is LACED with Character, it's too bad it's taken so long for him to recieve the recognition he deserves... and Basically, I really can't think of many other producer's from the time that can front on these Five right here, of course P-Rock & Showbiz, possibly DiamondD, and maybe RZA/Lord Finesse, but not too much else is coming to mind... Anyway, I'm going to put all the Track-Lists in the Comments of this post, all of the mp3's are unnamed, which is a Bitch, I know, but I'm Lazy and didn't want to spend an Hour naming 150 Beats, so I'll leave that up to y'all. Alot of the shit you'll probably just remember and will be able to name it yourself... According to the source that I got these from, they are all pulled from 12"s & digitally remastered, some have Vocal Choruses and whatnot which kinda sucks but if they're pulled from the 12's, there's not much we can do about that. Something else interesting too, Track 10 on the Buckwild Part 1 is the Rock On Remix for Funkdoobiest, BUT, I was just over at DJ Espionage's Blog and T&B did a post on the Rock On Remix, I got the tracks and found that the Beat on the Buckwild Part 1 is actually the original DJ Muggs beat, which is interesting... So, it gets me thinkin that possible some of the tracks are labeled wrong in the Track-List that I recieved, so if Anybody comes across Tracks that are mis-labeled or anything like that, please hit us up in the Comments, we'll all appreciate it. Also, I'd like to hear some discussion from people, Who is the Best in the Post?? Who are your favorite producers in general?? Alright, enough Rambling from my Ass. Here's the Goods, some of the Best Beats in Hip Hop History. PEACE.

Actually, before we roll with that, I have a request for a Few Instrumental Tracks that I have been lookin for. Haven't been able to track these Instru's down ANYWHERE. Any help with these would be ILL. I hope these are out there somewhere and I hope somebody might be able to help me out. It would be appreciated...

This is incredible - thank you.

I've always had a real softspot for Buckwild's beats, but in the 'greatest of all time' stakes you can't fuck with Preem... can you?!

Thanks again, this is really appreciated.

Keep on!

Diamond D!! Large Professor!!! How about the Beatnuts? Havoc? They were killin' it back then. Honorable mention to T-Ray. I don't know about Godfather Don being in the best of the golden era list. I love the beats he did off the top of the head on the Cenobites LP, but with a few notable exceptions, his other stuff is just not up to par with the heavyweights like Primo, Pete Rock, etc., in my opinion.

I read somewhere that Premier doesn't approve of the beats that were released in his Unreleased series...he was pointing out that they weren't complete, shit didn't sound right, etc.

One more thing: as much as I love early '90s hip hop, after listening to all this stuff posted, i couldn't help but think the beats sounded a bit dated and boring after a while. This stuff was made to back lyrics, so listening to them in beat tape format gets a bit monotonous to my ear. Perhaps I've been listening to too much material from dilla beat tapes from more recent years. Now that's some engaging shit!

I forgot to say thanks for the beats...please keep them coming.

Nice post!! The Beatminerz and Buckwild are definetly some of my favorite producers. Good lookin out.

Also, wow... I didn't think so many people were looking to hear the hydrabeats stuff. Crazy amount of downloads! Check back on my blog in a couple of weeks for the rest of the volumes.

WORD. Thanks for all the Comments people. That's the type of shit that makes me want to keep doing posts... I like to see people givin opinions too, shit's dope.

@dan love: it is hard to Fuck with Preem, I just can't listen to his stuff over & over, it gets repetitive to me, I'd listen to the other's in the post first before Preem, but that's me...

@T&B: True, I'll have to save all them for the Return 2 Tha Golden Era Post, if that happens...;)

@nathan, WORD on Havoc, fully slept on mentioning him, Definately some of the Darkest beats from the Era, and yeah, my opinion about the Don is different, I just feel that all of the stuff he produced was far more consistent than the rest of the people in the Post, Buckwild being the exception... Beatminerz & Primo have put out some definately shitty beats, not to say that EVERY Beat can be Hot, but you know what I mean... The Don was consistent as hell in his short time in the Game... Oh, yeah, the Unreleased Volumes are all Bootlegs, not official Primo releases. And I COMPLETELY agree with you on the Instrumental Album tip. I remember the Days of looping all those Molemen Discs in my player, FOR HOURS, I don't think I could make it through a whole one straight now... The repetition does get a little stale. And with all these various producer's doing FULL Instrumental Albums, ie: Maker, Anomaly, 40 Winks, The Nothing, Nomak, etc... It gets harder & harder to kick back and listen to older Instrumental Albums. But, I'm stoked that the Instrumental Album has been gaining popularity, I love Lyrics, but I prefer the Beats...

@kristhegreek: We'll be looking forward to that. No Doubt...

@el_cheato: Got that Reality Track with Vocals uploaded for ya. It's a HEATER... Peace:

aight 1st ov all let me say much respect and props to not only nawledge but also everybody that runs this whole Strictly Beats blog

now 1st off im a lyricist(not a rapper)so when i saw this post i went CRAZY! cuz bein that we are in a state ov bullshit "Hip Hop" and it's weak beats it's hard to get instru's from that time and me being 19 and rembering da golden era i feel that it's always a good thing finding instrumentals from that era...BUT! I must say i don't care for da lineup that much im gratefull but on da real come on Beatminerz? son i bearly found anything worth spittin on and THAT SHIT MESSED ME UP cuz i know they did do some ill beats(Who Got Da Props)but i guess i just got in over my head so ok now we got PREMO! let me repeat that PREMO! im pretty sure you know just as much as i do that this man is one ov da G.O.A.T.S so i went crazy again breakin shit and slappin cats just buggin out and feelin happy about da fact that i was about to bag ALOTTA PREMO! beats BUT!!!!!!!!! like kool aid wit too much water his shit was weak and you know what i have yet to see somebody else come out and say this so ima say it PREMO IS OVERRATED!!! that's why im glad i got da chance to download every volume cuz it opened my eyes i mean come on i can pretty much count his best beats on both my hands and you know maybe im just too picky when it comes to choosin beats but considerin da low amount ov instru's i did keep from each volume is not good i mean da fact that i liked such a low amount ov Preme beats is shocking and i can't even talk about it no more cuz im bout to cry haha...Buckwild!!! YES!!!!!!!! my head been fucked up for a while now from tryin to find this brothas beats since i heard "Diggin In The Crates" so you know i was mad hyped when i found out some ov da beats from that album is on here so unlike preme shit i bagged every instru from buck...BUT! da only problem i have is there is some other ILL beats from that album that was not posted...alright nawledge now here's a question for you...a couple ov weeks ago when i was goin crazy tryna find Buckwild instrumentals i searched threw da internet and came across an ebay page where someone was tryna sell a whole collection ov buck's instru's it had all da beats from his DITC album(i was too broke to get them myself)so now im wondering did you get that collection? cuz (IF) you did why didn't you post all ov it like "You Can't Front" and "Life's A Bitch Remix" but if that's not da source you got buck's beats from then nevermind don't worry bout it and THANKS!!! for da ones you did post....NOW da shit that caught me a hell ov alot off guard being that i never EVER heard ov him is da brotha Godfather Don...DAMN!!! that was my reaction everytime i listened to one ov his beats and you know it's not so much da instru's from Godfather Don Beats(beat 8# is so ill it dont make no sense) but da ones from Hydra Beats is da ones that did it for me they was da ones that kept me up all night at 5 in da morn writing wit da boombox blastin(only in NY)...as a matter ov fact everytime i heard a beat from Hydra it was ILL so wit that said if anybody has any more hydrabeats PLEASE hook me up....but in closin i think that Godfather Don is da best this go around BUT if da rest ov those Buckwild beats was posted it woulda been a wrap he mos def woulda came out on top and that's all i have to say about that.

oh almost forgot next go round it should be Pete Rock,Havoc,MARLEY MARL!,annnnnnnnnd da Extra P or possibly Erick Sermon he made alotta ill beats in da golden era time period speakin ov yo nawledge or anybody if you could help me out theres a Redman song from 95 that E had a hand in called "Funkorama" if you never heard it or saw da video it's on Youtube one ov THEE ILLEST BEATS EVER MADE!!! and i'd REALLY appreciate it if i could get da Instrumental thanks again 1#

Amazing Beats! Thanks for putting in the hours...

man there are so many critics in this bunch of comments. i guess that's what the internet has enabled people to do, feel really wmpowered to let loose their pretty little egos and talk shit like 'oh, back in the day i loved Primo but now that I listen to Dilla beat cds I could NEVER make it through primo's repetitive style." Whatever you little ear-herbs, consider
a) most of these beats were made when you didn't have a PC with Reason and now you think beatmaking is easy + you were probably 12 and listening to Heavy D in your walkman
b)maybe DJ Premier's style is something that you have to evolve to appreciate instead of you merely writing it off as 'repetitive' or whathaveyou
c)DJ Premier is not the sucker-dj Molemen (those beats are god-awful repetitive).
d) By virtue of his influence alone in shaping what we know as 'dope/ill/bangin'/golden era hip hop' you should do your homework and listen, not fan your fingers and be like 'YAAAAAWN'

Tired-N-Broke said...

@ dpb, I understand your rant but get it right man Molemen is not one DJ, its a group of producers (His-Panik, Memo, & PNS)...they are actually pretty dope, so don't go crucifying someone when u got your facts twisted....
peace

nawledge said...

yea, @dpb: Thanks for your comments, I guess... Not too intelligent, but whatever. I completely feel everybody's Love for Premier, there was once a time when I thought he was the Greatest, but as you mentioned some people "Evolve" into him, or whatever, I "Evolved" out. His stuff just got stale to me after awhile... He still Drops BANGERS every year, and belongs on the List of Greatest Producers Ever, I just grew out of it... That's me. Also, I don't remember any of us mentioning that we thought that Beatmaking was easy?? But I don't give a Shit about Reason or makin Beats with a PC, especially when it comes to the Gods in this Post. I'll place Bets that NONE of these producers use any of that Bullshit Loop Software. Anyway, none of us really gained anything from your Comment, you didn't really discuss too much, or talk about what you thought was Good... And yea, The Molemen consists of 3 Producers, and they all have their own style... So, maybe YOU should do your Homework and just listen. PEACE.

i was going to hold back on the downloading...but fuck it.
huge huge thanks.

@dpb: First, what's with the bitter, aggressive attitude? Second of all, what are you talking about?? I was not on some ego shit and I wasn't hating on Premier. I have a lot of love and respect for Premier as well as for the others featured in this post. I grew up listening to these producers, and I still pull out wax by these guys often. However, for me, in this day and age it takes a collection of beats that are more dynamic to sustain my interest. I mentioned Dilla as an example because his beat tapes blow me away. I can listen to them on repeat all day because his beats are often in a constant state of flux...shit's changing and evolving throughout each track. Personally, that's what I need in order to fully appreciate an instrumental collection, and that's why I lost interest listening to the collections posted here.

Last thing: You're probably right. There's a good chance I was listening to Heavy D back in the day. More for the beats, but all the same. If you are so high on yourself when it comes to beats, you should know that Heavy D was featured on production by Pete Rock, Marley Marl and others. Check 'em out, and next time please save your angst-ridden commentary for elsewhere.
